Join us on Saturday, September 27th from 3-5pm at Blacksburg Wine Lab for the Wine Lab Book Club tasting & discussion featuring Under The Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes. Cassandra, Wine Lab’s Wine Director will curate a tasting of wines from Tuscany to pair with the themes from the book. New members are always welcome.

About the book ~
Under the Tuscan Sun (1996) is a memoir by Frances Mayes that follows her impulsive decision to purchase and restore a crumbling villa in Cortona, a small town in Tuscany, Italy. After going through a painful divorce, Mayes longs for renewal and a slower, more meaningful life. She finds it in the neglected 200-year-old farmhouse, Bramasole, which she gradually restores with the help of local craftsmen, friends, and her own determination.
Through vivid descriptions of Tuscan landscapes, food, wine, and traditions, Mayes blends personal reflection with cultural exploration. The memoir captures the challenges of adapting to a new country, the beauty of Italian daily life, and the sense of healing and joy that comes from creating a home and embracing change.
